Ok, are you ready to see what I did with the brass sconces from Goodwill?
Here's a reminder of what they used to look like.
First, I primed them with Krylon white primer.
They look better already!
Then I gave them a coat of Oil Rubbed Bronze, also by Krylon and
here is what they look like now~
Swoon!!!
Isn't it amazing what a couple of coats of paint will do!!?
I bought the globes at Lowes on clearance...they had been $13.98 and I got em' for 5 bucks each! They weren't exactly made to go on this type of sconce, soooo...I epoxied them on, problem solved!
Here is where my sconces are hanging now...
(this is in my foyer/entrance hall)
Here's a little closer up....
Oh, I also painted the frame on the picture to match...
it was a "not so attractive" gold color, this is so much better!
I love when I can find something no one else wants from Goodwill
and turn it into something useful and pretty to boot!
If you missed what I did with the other goodwill goodies
Have a blessed day and go do something creative!
Blessings
Melissa

I am swooning! Wow...I love how they turned out! Seriously, they look gorgeous! Now I need to go check out the other things you transformed. Nice job, girl!~Hugs, Patti
Very pretty! Did you just tape off the painting, or take it out to spray the frame?
Beautiful, Melissa! They look like a million bucks. I love that cottage picture, too. I think I have that same topper in my living room. And I love it!
Great color job! I just did a tall lamp for my daughter with ORB paint and it turned out looking very smart. I took a before picture but forgot the after and now it's in Denver. I don't seem to remember one or the other. Thanks for sharing. ♥♫
Thanks for replying and for your comment on my blog. I hope VBS is great for you this next week! You have such a good eye for finding things and then doing something with them! :)
Blessings,
Ava
Melissa~ what a transformation! Those turned out wonderfully! I'm inspired!
Great job! I didn't even know Krylon had an oil rubbed bronze!
Great job! We need you working with us!
Those turned out great! Love that bronze color. Soooo much prettier than the brass.
Most excellent transformation, so stylish and chic. They look wonderful on your wall with your painting. I just bought some oil rubbed bronze paint and I'm planning some changes, too.
These are very attractive! Thanks for showing them to us on Modern Craftswoman Monday! Rory
Amazing!!! They look great on your wall!! Good Job!!
I have always wondered what that Krylon bronzed paint would look like...it is perfect! What a great post!!!!!
I have a set of the brass sconces very similar to these. Hummm...now ya got me thinking! Love how they turned out!
thanks guys! :) I was VERY pleased with the Krylon oil rubbed bronze paint...it looks just like the real deal! It looks so nice...and it does stuff for cheap! (I'm all about cheap! lol) I think the can was something like $3.75...can't get much better than that!
Hope you guys have a great week!
Melissa
Hi Melissa,
Oh my gosh! You would never guess that your gorgeous sconces are the same as the "before" ones! What a great idea! I also love how you have everything displayed in your entrance. Great pillows :) Found you at Trash to Treasure.
THEY ARE TOTLLY TRANSFORMED AND I LOVE THE GLASS YOU PUT ON THEM!!
LOVELY!!
Superb job Melissa. Wish that what I spray painted looked that good. I'm good with food and fabric but not paint and wood. I can handle a brush, roller and a wall. That's about it. You did an excellent job transforming them.
I agree...I wouldn't have guessed they were the same ones you started out with. They look just beautiful. Blessings, Patty btw...the little patriotic buckets were from the $1.00 bin at Target. You are welcome to them after the fourth! Just let me know.
Missy, those look like very EXPENSIVE sconces from Ballards now! WAY TO GO crafty lady!
Robyn...VERY expensive...they cost about 2 bucks each...well not counting the shades. :)
hee hee hee
You made a genius choice and did a fab job too. I applaude your creativity~!! they look fabulous.
