Arbor love and a linky party! Treasures and Trinkets Thursday

This is our house......

See the fence?  We just had it put in this summer.
(oh look, we had green grass....right now it crunches when you walk on it!
No rain for weeks!!)

We got them to add two extra posts behind the gate....see...........

We did that so we could add this......

Yeah!! I've been wanting an arbor for as long as I can remember!
I have a plastic garden one, but I wanted a real wooden one for..
well.....forever!

My hubby and I made the arbor top and just set it on top
of the four posts and screwed it into place....
it only took one day to build~!

We measured, then cut it out of pretreated 2 x 12 lumber.
We just used a circular saw to cut it out,
then added 2 x 4 braces inbetween and
the 1 x 2's on top.
It really was easy and looks so good....
I. JUST. LOVE. IT!

Every time we leave the house or I go to check the mail,
I look up and see it and it makes me smile.
:0)
What makes you smile?

Missy, oh MYYYYYYYY it looks FABULOUS! SO GREAT that you did it yourself! AWESOME! I really like it too! I want to put climing roses on the back of my pergola. What did you plant on your arbor? Is it clematis? I have a GORGEOUS purple clematis on a wooden trellis Matt made me. It's funny because when the clematis start to die the morning glories start to take it over so I have color a long time. You know what makes me smile...YOU, white tootsie roll midgies, my children, my funny husband, my goofy dogs, baking, blog hopping, etc. and so on and so forth. I could go on forever!

Missy,

Great job on the arbor! I have one on the side of the house that leads to the summer kitchen. Part of it was made with an arch from a historical church that was demolished. It was covered with climbing pale pink roses and white jasmine but I cut it all back two weeks ago to paint the fence. Have no fear, it will return! Everything and anything grows here. Your home is beautiful. What makes me happy? Life!

Your Friend,
Deborah

Oh my, love it. It would make me smile everyday too. I have been on the fence (hee hee) about getting a new fence and this may tip the scale for me.
