Today I wanted to share my old glass rolling pin, my mom gave me. It has such a curvy, feminine shape and I love it!
Glass rolling pins were used in Victorian homes, and were sometimes given as a gift to a young lady from a serious young man, when he was wooing her for marriage.
These rolling pins originally came filled with baking powder, vinegar or cocoa powder. They were later emptied and filled with cracked ice or ice water to keep the dough chilled while working with it. I fill mine with a pretty pink potpourri to put in my pretty pink kitchen!
Ok, that’s my treasure for the week…what’s yours?
Link up something you love, a project, or whatever your heart desires. I would appreciate a link back to my page, if you know how to do it.
Have a great day!
Hugs
Missy

Missy,
I love your antique glass rolling pin. I always imagine who my antiques belonged to when they were new and picture them using it.
Your Friend,
Deborah
Missy, I have an antique rolling pin just like that! I have antique glass marbles in it and I have it hanging on the wall!! I love it! I'm thinking I need to change out what I have in it more often.
I love that rolling pin. I've never seen one before (and am now thinking how genius a pin you can put ice water in actually is). It looks gorgeous with the potpourri!
This is lovely! I have a few rolling pins I have collected! Wish I had a clear one like this!!!
Will try to join your party soon!
Kathy

Wow, I've never heard of these! That's pretty clever to be able to put ice in them. But I can't imagine a girl today liking that as a gift from her boyfriend! :)

If I ever get wooed with a rolling pin, Unless, its George Clooney, I would probably bonk him on the head with it!!
Thanks for sharing this. I've never seen one before. How clever to fill them with ice to cool the dough as one works it.
